Moshi Moshi, Liverpool Street (Japanese Restaurant) 21.03.08
I’ve never had particularly good experiences at restaurants with Kaiten (conveyor belt) sushi in England. As a result prior to my visit to the Liverpool Street branch of Moshi Moshi my expectations were not high.
Unforunately my low expectations were justified , however I’ve heard sandwiching critism between compliments in a Compliment Sandwich (although technically it should surely be a Critism Sandwich) is the way to go with these sort of things so…
The restaurant’s interior is quite stylish having been knocked up by famous Japanese restaurant designer, Kaneshiro Yusakuto. Some of the tables are in futuristic looking wooden pods which I think are lovely.
The yakitori (grilled chicken on skewers) and gyoza plater (£11) was pretty awful - the gyoza were rubbery and the yakitori lukewarm. The sushi main course (£7.50 interestingly named Stamina Set) was a little better but the sushi rice was too cold and hard and the fish wasn’t great either.
But on the upside, the staff were nice, the fish is sustainably farmed and the Eat Japan website currently has a £5 off Moshii Moshii Voucher which I remembered to take with me.
